Inside Caran d’Ache manufacture

I photographed the Caran d’Ache manufacture in Geneva for Les Echos Week-End, getting a view of the processes behind the Swiss company’s iconic pencils and colours.

I always enjoy assignments that take me behind the scenes and offer a glimpse into the savoir-faire behind the things we use every day. At Caran d’Ache, it was fascinating to discover how traditional craftsmanship was used along their processes, with real pigments and tools that seem to have been there for generations.
